User Comments about the name Fay

  • Comment left Nov 15, 2009: "I'm a male named Fay, born in the 1930s. I've met about 40 others in my life. Mostly older. There was a period when Lafayette was a very "patriotic" name and both "Fay" and "Lafe" were short derivitives. Just met a young woman clerk yesterday who said her Grandfather was named Fay. I wouldn't name a guy child Fay today. Fay Vincent didn't get famous enough and Fay Jones was a unique architect. It embarasses people who see the name and just 'expect' the person they see will be a woman. When young, there were guys named Fran (Tarkinton), Shirley, Kay, etc. Today "Jan's" have the same problem." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Sep 27, 2009: "My oldest brother was named Fay. He was born in 1938 in Louisiana. I have never heard of another man named Fay, however my mother said she found the name in a U. S. Marines yearbook and liked it. My brother did not like it so much I think. His middle name was Allen and we usually called him Fay Allen. As a grown man his friends called him Al." Comment left Aug 03, 2009: "My great grandfather's name was Fay and i was almost named after him...thank god i was named after my great grandmother" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 31, 2009: "Fay Vincent was commissioner of baseball in 1989 so yes there are men named Fay most before 1940 if you look at the chart. He was born in 1938." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 09, 2007: "My name is consistently spell with an e at the end. I am often called Faith and sometimes Fran." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 08, 2006: "My name is Spelled F-A-Y-E pronounced the same way as Fay. Fay seems to me like its missing something. It seems so short and unfinished. I love my name, I am 22, and yes the older generations love that name. Its an older name but I think it has a lot of something special. Character. The names nowadays are so plain, jennifer, and amanda, it seems that we need more names like mine and others like it. I have met several people with my name, some older and a couple my age. but not in between. weird huh. I was always a bright and cheerful child and loved to make friends. So the name definately has a good follwing in my opinion, I am also Irish and German. but I am not sure if it had to do with me getting my name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 21, 2006: "I have never heard of a boy or man named Fay. Only women. I'd have to know someone famous by that name to get used to it as a man's name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 01, 2006: "I called my daughter Fay - she is 13months, bright, socialable and always smiling. We had plenty of people commenting on her nice name. I am German, my girlfriend French and our daughter Irish (born in ireland), we need a name which can easily pronounced in French/English/Gaelic and German - Fay it was. We are very happy." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jul 14, 2005: "My name is Fay. My best friend's sister is also called this. We often find that everybody spells it F-a-y-e, but i have often had comments from old people at work that it's a 'lovely name'" (Report as inappropriate)
