When a young Damon reaches the goofy stage of development (8-10), he'll remind you many time a day that his name is actually Nomad spelled backwards, and get a kick out of it each time. When he reaches the young adolescent stage, he'll begin to refer to himself only as Damon (omitting the last name), knowing that he's probably the only one in the class or in the school for that matter. Also, you can't make a nickname out of it and it is easy to spell and pronounce. However, many people make the mistake of calling him "Damien". When we told family what we were planning on naming him we got some comments like "that's an evil name" or "isn't that the kid from 'The Omen ?'" (that was Damien). But all in all, we are happy that we chose it.I should mention that my husband wanted to name him after his favorite pro motocross racer, Damon Bradshaw. We also like that it is a name that crosses racial lines. There are both black and white Damons and we like the fact that you can't tell by his name what decade he was born in like the Ashleys, Brittanys,Hunters, and Tanners of the world.
