User Comments about the name Damien
Comment left Nov 04, 2009: "Just for kicks, my name is Damian, I was born on Friday the 13th, one week late. If I was born on time I would have been born on the 6/6/86... would have been more dramatic in '66 but you know...
And no. I'm not cursed or unlucky or the antichrist or anything like that." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 19, 2009: "I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant and if it's a boy, his name will be Damien Andrew. My husband and I have loved this name from the day we got married and we have rec'd lots of crap from people but after reading the above comments, I say to hell to thos people!" Comment left Oct 11, 2009: "My name is Damien,I was born in 1954, before the film my name was unpronuncable to people, now its ok , if your surname is difficuly please do not name your son Damien as an obvious nick name will not be obvious to his peers and he could end up with something worse. I thought I had got over the exorcist and then the omen to find that a transvestite had had a hit with "lets do the time warp again" The years have gone by and now people can say my name ok without checking my head for 666. I have given my children common names so as to avoid the problems I suffered." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 08, 2009: "I'm a Charles, and think it's kinda cool the name was made popular by the "Child's Play" movies, as in Charles Lee Ray the deranged goofball who, by means of voodoo, transmutes his soul into the murderous doll Chucky. Get real, it's only a movie that, in the course of it's sequels, has become a horror camp cult classic. Yes, I like films like this but I'm by no means a whack job. Heck, better I spend my time watching films and reading the novelizations of 'em rather than be on the streets causing trouble. Whenever someone asks if I'm the guy from the movie I usually get a "chuckle" out of it and, depending on the context of the situation, may or may not say that I am ... all in good fun." Comment left Sep 20, 2009: "I'm 6 mo. pregnant and my husband picked the name Damien for our son. It's grown on me and I love it! We've only had a few negative responses, but I told them it has nothing to do with the devil and shut them up by reminding them of the famous Belgium priest Father Damien who will be recognized as a saint this Oct. by the Catholic church." Comment left Jul 30, 2009: "I am pregnant and love the name Damien!! When people ask me what I am going to name my son and I tell them Damien, I get the same response! So tired of hearing the stigma attached to the name all because of a movie!! I love the name!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 09, 2009: "I LOVE the name. Always have, always will. If I ever have a son, his name is definitely going to be Damian. Though I also like the name Valin. But Damian is amazing and all this crap of it having stuff to do with the devil is BS!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left May 26, 2009: "my sons name is damian and i catch so much grief from ignorant people. its the only name my husband and i both loved and he is the best child i could ask for." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 09, 2009: "love the name. i am pregnant with twins (boy and girl) and i want to call my son damien but i am getting a hard time from everyone else regarding the omen connection." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 25, 2008: "my name is DAMIEN and im 20 all my life ive had the stupid omen refrences and it gets really annoying or when people call me damian pronouncing it DOM EE ON. and people on the phone have a hard time understanding it when i say my name, but i love it! its my name and its not regular and hunky dory like bob or john or greg or something. so come on damiens of the world, unite!!" Comment left Dec 15, 2008: "Im am due in may '09 with a little boy. Me and my boyfriend/fiance love the name. His family loves the name and my mom likes the name everyone else has arrogant comments to make because of the movie the "omen". I don't care about that movie, thats not why I am naming my son that. I chose the name ebcause it is Greek and it means STRONG which my baby will be I don't understand what peoples problems are when they hear that name but I like it and taht will be my baby boys name!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 15, 2008: "My name is Damien and i will always be hip because of it! well, maybe not, but my name is pretty alright. anytime i meet another Damien, we always seem to bond because of all of "the omen" crap we've gotten, and most of all, because i've never met a Damien who didn't love his name. Women really do like it, some seem to find it mysterious or mischievious. it sounds very artistic and at the same time naughty. i recomend it to any parent looking for a unique name that isn't too strange, but will stand out." Comment left Oct 29, 2008: "I love the name Damien and I don't know why people say it's the name of the Devil's son. I haven't seen that anywhere in the Bible." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 28, 2008: "I love the name Damien although when you tell someone you're thinking of naming your child that, you might get the same looks I did. Everyone remembers Damien the creepy kid in the Omen. For people who have asked about the storyline it's
"set in Fulham, England, tells of the childhood of Damien Thorn, who was switched at birth with the supposedly stillborn child of a wealthy American diplomat with only the husband's knowledge, in order to keep it from affecting his wife. Damien's family is unaware that he is actually the offspring of Satan and destined to become the Antichrist."
But I agree with the comment left by someone else before, just because you name your kid Damien doesn't mean he's the antichrist or spawn of satan. It's just a name used by a movie. They could have just as soon named the boy in the movie David or Jon." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 20, 2008: "I love the name Damien -- it's masculine and strong, and anyone who dislikes it solely because some ridiculous movie character had the same name isn't worth a moment of your time. Might as well shy away from names like Carrie, Freddy, and Jason as well. My uncle's name is Adolf and he's gotten grief all his life for sharing Hitler's name... but at least that was a real person, not some imaginary evil from a MOVIE.
Here's to more Damians/Damiens in the world!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 15, 2008: "My name is DAMIEN. 2 interesting stories. I didnt know the origin of my name but 3 4th grade girls did. When I checked in to a new school they jumped all over me looking in my head for 3 sixes! Hilarious. I asked my mom and then she told me about the movie. The other story is I played High school football and I had a incredible game and the writer used my name in line with the omen about how I brought fear to the opposing team! Wow.If your name is Damien.. STAND UP!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Sep 11, 2008: "My son is being born on the 3rd of November 2008.
I have named him Damean.
Since then I really see how ignorant people are. First thing they say " OH no... That movie!! First, it is just a movie dumb@$$ !! And second, if it bothers you so much, at least remember the name of the movie.
What few people even bother to find out is that the name Damien is of Greek origin, Means to tame or subdue, and is one of the strongest names !!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left May 25, 2008: "my sister recently had a baby had named him damian. I think it is a nice and unique name although many people pull faces when she tells him his name and again refer to the omen but damian is also the name of a patron saint and the singer damien rice is also famous for his relaxing music and doesn't seem devilish to me! so if your thinking about that name go or it! some people find faults with any name but in the end people will get over it and if it is the name you like thats all that counts." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left May 24, 2008: "i named my son Damien. lots of people made the omen reference but it doesnt bother me. i wanted my child to have a strong and unique name that wasnt hard to pronounce. i actually watched the omen while i was pregnant and made the decided after seeing the movie. i love the name. to hell with what anyone thinks!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Apr 20, 2008: "I am on my 3rd pregnancy I have had 2 miscarriages and I hope this one makes it. If it is a boy that means he is strong because he survived and I will name him Damien because I will believe that it will fit him." (Report as inappropriate)
