We made the name up using the boy name, Kai from Wales and changed the spelling to Cay, then added den which is the Norwegian definite article, which made his name mean "The fiery rejoicer". Although, I find that most people are spelling it "Kaden", so it's still semi-unique. I have heard of one person I know using it for a girl, and I don't care for it. To me it is masculine. My wife and I picked it within 1 minute of trying from reading a random book browsing a store. I'm in the midwest, never heard it before, but have since learned how popular it's becoming. Obviously I'd love it if my child were the only that wore that name, but when I hear what I find a beautiful name, I would've still chose it if it were the #1 most popular. Then again, my name's Tom!
